Avengers: Endgame trailer – Did Thor think Loki disguised as Captain Marvel? The new Avengers: Endgame trailer has got every Marvel Cinematic Universe fan holding a microscope and decoding it for clues. The new Avengers: Endgame trailer released last week and ever since, fans have been trying to decode it. The new trailer assures us that Iron Man joins Captain America and others on Earth, the surviving Avengers will avenge Thanos and most importantly, Captain Marvel and Thor will be meeting for the first time. Curious Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have been replaying the trailer as many times as they can to spot spoilers and draw parallels with other Marvel Studios movies. Turns out, an eagle-eyed fan has spotted a connection between Thor-Carol meet with a scene from Thor: Ragnarok featuring Thor and Loki.
In Thor: Ragnarok, there is a scene featuring Thor and Loki disguised as their father, Odin. The God of Thunder has his doubts when he returns to Asgard and sees a play telling the tale of Loki’s death from Thor: The Dark World while his father enjoys it. He senses something is fishy about his father’s behaviour. He decides to find out the truth by standing extremely close to Odin and calling for his hammer, Mjolnir. Loki flinches and immediately uncovers his identity.
A fan noticed that the Captain Marvel-Thor introduction scene is eerily similar to the Thor: Ragnarok moment. Thor purposely calls for his hammer which swoops just above Carol’s shoulder. Given that she doesn’t flinch, Thor goes on to say, “I like this one.” This raised eyebrows that maybe, just maybe, Thor thought that Loki has returned in a disguise.
Although Loki died in Avengers: Infinity War, it seems like Thor (like many MCU fans) is hoping that he returns.
This is not the only observation that fans have made with regard to the trailer. The MCU fandom is convinced that the Russo Brothers have lied to them in the trailer. If you saw the trailer, you’ll know that Joe and Anthony Russo want us to believe that Tony Stark has made it back to Earth safe and sound. However, fans are now questioning the scene. Given that the directors played a trick on us last year by making us believe that Hulk is part of the final fight scene in Infinity War, when actually he wasn’t, fans think that Iron Man is not really there in the scene but just planted for our sake.
Another fan theory suggests that the Ant-Man reaching the Avengers headquarters scene in the first Avengers: Endgame trailer is planted for us to speculate and go mad.
Meanwhile, the cast of Avengers: Endgame featured on the cover of Empire. The series was called the farewell series hinting that the core Avengers might be leaving MCU for good.
