Well, we’re here to help you out.
Before you dive into GoT 8, possibly the most heart-breaking episode of the whole show, here’s a look at five of the most heart-wrenching wars that will help you prepare for the Battle of Winterfell.
Battle of Bastards:
Hands down, Battle of Bastards is our favourite war scene from the history of Game of Thrones. The episode had it all. Right from Rickon Stark’s death to Wun Wun flaming up and Sansa Stark saving Jon and the Stark taking back Winterfell, the episode was packed with every element that Stark fans have been waiting for. But it was not only these twists and turns that made the crusade such a great watch, the sheer cinematography redefined battle scenes on television. How can you forget Jon looking up at the camera while the army surrounding him? Brilliant!
We still remember watching the battle between the Wildlings, The Night’s Watch and White Walkers for the first time. Our hearts still skip a beat. What an episode it was! The massacre left us shattered. From the dead raining down the avalanche to Jon Snow almost getting killed and watching the dead rise, in thousands, there is no other episode yet that ignites goosebumps the way Hardhome did.
The Spoils of War:
What happens when Daenerys finally meets the Lannisters? It results in the making of an epic war scene. For those who don’t remember, it was the episode where the Lannisters beat House Tyrell at Highgarden which left the Unsullied forces confused. The army, led by Jaime Lannister, head through Goldroad to King’s Landing and ends up crossing paths with Dothraki, Daenerys and her black dragon Drogon, who charge up to the Lannisters. The result: An eye-popping visual treat.
Beyond the Wall:
Another battle which featured Daenerys and her dragons, which blew our minds away, was the battle Beyond the Wall. Yes, yes, we know it wasn’t a battle per say but it was a fight that got us screaming and biting our nails. Jon, Tormund, Beric, Thoros, Jorah, Gendry, Hound and their army team up against the Night King and his White Walkers, this sequence left us gasping for air. But it wasn’t until Dany and her dragons swooped in and changed the dynamics.
Battle of Castle Black:
This battle was one of the many stepping stones towards Jon Snow’s legacy, as the Lord Commander of The Night’s Watch. From giving some wow moments to shattering our hearts with Ygritte’s death, this episode will always stand out. Which was your favourite battle of Game of Thrones?
