Kalank will continue its dominance at the box office till Avengers: Endgame arrives next week The highly-anticipated film of Bollywood, Kalank released yesterday and as expected it enjoyed a record-breaking first day at the box office. Capitalizing on the partial holiday of Mahavir Jayanti, the makers decided to release the film on Wednesday and it seems, the strategy worked for them quite well. The film raked in Rs 21.60 crore yesterday and became the biggest opener of the year beating biggies like Kesari, Gully Boy, Total Dhamaal and others.
Apart from the biggest opener of the year, it also became the biggest openers of Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt beating Dilwale and Gully Boy. The upcoming holiday, Good Friday, is also likely to boost its collections at the box office. The film is being shown on 4000 screens across India. Kalank will now remain the first choice for the moviegoers as there no big releases and competition to the film. Since the film is made on a huge budget, it is crucial for the film to remain steady at the ticket windows.
Despite not being a genre, which attracts the mass audience, the hit pair of Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt has managed to garner great footfalls in the cinema halls, which can be seen through its first day collections. Also starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Kiara Advani and Kunar Kemmu, it is directed by 2 States helmer Abhishek Varman.
