Kalank Release Date Changed Alia Bhatt-Varun Dhawan’s Film to Hit

Kalank Release Date Changed: Alia Bhatt-Varun Dhawan’s Film to Hit Screens on April 17 Now Kalank will now hit screens early due to the release of Avengers: End Game The release date of Kalank, starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, has been preponed. The film, directed by Abhishek Varman, will now hit the screens early. The initial release date of Kalank was April 19. However, as revealed by Mumbai Mirror, the makers have decided to pull it up to April 17. This means the film will now enjoy an extended weekend. The shift in the release date is a business decision taken by producer Karan Johar considering anticipated Hollywood film Avengers: End Game is hitting the screens in India on April 26. Kalank will have a nine-day free run at the Box Office before the big superhero film takes over the screens.

A source close to the daily confirmed the news and said, “The idea is to capitalise on Mahavir Jayanti as well as Good Friday, besides Saturday and Sunday. It’s an extended weekend with two partial holidays. And going by past records, it’s a good time for a big film to release. ”

The makers have already created a successful buzz around Kalank. The introductory posters of all the important characters in the film have been released and each one has received appreciation from the fans. Kalank features Varun Dhawan as Zafar, a blacksmith while Alia Bhatt plays the role of a royal woman named Roop. The other actors in the film are Sanjay Dutt as Balraj Chaudhary, Madhuri Dixit as Bahaar Begum, Aditya Roy Kapur as Dev Chaudhary and Sonakshi Sinha as Satya Chaudhary. The film is set in the 40s during the time of partition.

Earlier, while releasing a still from the film, producer Karan Johar wrote a heartfelt message mentioning how this film was conceived by him and his late father Yash Johar 15 years back. Kalank also marks Varun-Alia’s fourth film in which they are paired opposite each other after Student Of The Year (2012), Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017).
