India biz.” (sic)The film is facing tough competition from Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and Uri: The Surgical Strike at the Box Office. Both the films have impressed the audience and raking in the good moolah. The weekend is expected to bring in more money for both the recently released films.
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga deals with a subject which hasn’t been widely explored on screen for the Indian audience. The concept itself hasn’t been accepted by the society on a larger scale and therefore, the film hasn’t been able to do start well in the mass circuits. Directed by debutant Shelly Chopra Dhar, Ek Ladki… also features Anil Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Juhi Chawla and Regina Cassandra. Earlier, talking about how Indian audience has evolved enough to accept homosexuality, Sonam said in a media interaction, “Actually, we’re misunderstanding and not understanding that the audience is way more intelligent and way more receptive than we think they are. The people of India are not as regressive as much as we think they are.” She added, “We are not hiding anything, everything is out there for everybody to see. But once we start labeling things and labeling situations then it becomes an issue. Being gay is a non-issue, it’s absolutely natural and normal.”
